Çorum dating back as far as 7000 years is the first settlement that fell under the rule of the Hittites by the time they took control of the Anatolian lands. Throughout the centuries, many civilizations have existed and thrived in Çorum province. Naturally, the region is rich in historical artifacts and monuments. The Lion’s Gate, for example, is among the best known of these relics. Located in the Central Black Sea region at a high altitude, Çorum has a continental climate.
