Where to Find the Bodrum Windmills

The windmills are strategically perched on a hill in the northwest portion of the Bodrum Peninsula, between Bodrum and Gümbet. This elevated position provides some of the best panoramic views in the region, overlooking the bays of Bodrum and Gümbet as well as the sparkling Aegean Sea. The Bardakçı Windmills, located along a steep hillside separating Bodrum and Gümbet Bays, are particularly notable.

For the most spectacular vistas, visit the western side of the peninsula where seven windmills are lined up gracefully, crowning the landscape. From this vantage point, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the city of Bodrum, the bustling harbor, and the turquoise waters that surround the area.

How to Reach the Windmills

Getting to the windmills is easy and adds a touch of adventure to your exploration.

• By Bus: From Bodrum’s harbor front, take a small bus heading to Gümbet. The route passes by the windmills, and the bus will drop you off at the bottom of the lane on the main road. From there, it's just a short 400-500 meter walk uphill to reach the site.
• On Foot: While the walk up to the windmills offers a chance to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area, it’s important to note that the climb can be challenging, especially during the hot summer months of July and August. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water if you’re visiting during these peak temperatures
